The Story of the Raptor Rides the Whale

First released in 2008, this design is the Winged Beast’s biggest hit. People often ask: Is the raptor attacking the whale? Are they friends? I have my opinions, but I enjoy letting people find their own magic in this print. What I do know is the scuba diver is there for scale. Scientific accuracy is important, after all!

The origins of this design are humble. I was just goofing around in Photoshop and shared the design with friends, along with a few other raptor based ideas. From their response, it was pretty clear that I needed to run with this merry duo. It didn’t take long for the raptor and the whale to become the mainstay of the Winged Beast line-up.

Over the years, this design has inspired some variants. The most in recent is the Galaxy Variant, which takes the Raptor and the Whale to the stars!
